Boys/Girls Director – Lee Bishop -

The FC Europa Juniors, which primarily consists of players ages 12-14, builds on the fundamentals learned in the Academy program, while recognizing the significant physical and emotional growth that takes place during these years. Our coaches guide the players through this transition period, with an emphasis on the more complex scenarios presented by the move from 9v9 play during the first year of play in the Juniors Division to 11v11 play during the second through fourth year. By the end of the FC Europa Juniors, our players should have the technical skills, game intelligence, and competitive spirit necessary to play at a very high level in their high school years and beyond and be ready to compete at the FC Europa Showcase level.

The FC Europa Juniors program is a year-round program, which generally includes the following:

  • Summer: Training 1x week; August team camp (90-120 minute training sessions for 3-4 consecutive days); 1-2 tournaments
  • Fall: Training 2x week; League play on Saturdays and/or Sundays; 1-3 weekend tournaments.
  • Winter: Training 1x week; Indoor league; possibly Indoor State Cup
  • Spring: Training 2x week; League play; Outdoor State Cup; 2-3 tournaments

League and tournament play will generally require more travel than the Academy program, and may include overnight stays. While the club remains sensitive to the burdens created by extensive travel, we also want to ensure that teams are being appropriately challenged, which may require travel outside the Philadelphia region.

For teams in the Juniors Division, there is no guaranteed playing time. Coaches will aim to provide a fair amount of playing time for all players, based on what they have earned, taking into account player attitude, skills, commitment, compatibility and fitness.

Most FC Europa Juniors players recognize soccer as their primary sport. Therefore, while many players are involved with other sports and activities, Juniors players are expected to honor their team commitments, especially key events like state cup games and tournaments.
